Share Your Slow Cooker Recipes?

My husband always wanted to try some food from a slow cooker. So I recently bought a small one to make meals just for the two of us. It didn’t have any recipes with it, so could you share your best slow cooker recipes with me?

Congrats! I love my slow cooker.
Here’s a simple and delicious recipe:

    Beef Stew

1/2kg Beef (Beef chuck is best for this purpose)
    4 Carrots, diced
    2 stalks Celery, chopped coarsely
    2-3 Onions, chopped
    2 Large potatoes, diced
    1 cup Peas
1 tin Tomatoes (or 2 tablespoon tomato paste)
    Salt, pepper to taste
    Beef stock or water

    1) Sear all sides of the beef in a pan to lock in the juices.

    2) Fry the onions until fragrant.

    3) Add all the ingredients into the slow cooker and cover just sufficiently (not too much) with BOILING WATER or BOILING beef stock. Cook at high heat for 2 hours, then at low heat for another 2-4 hours.

    4) Once vegetables and potatoes are soft, serve.

p.s. Remember never to use cold or even warm water, because it will take too long a time to cook.

slow cookers are easy, just remember that the liquid comes from the food in the pot, so you don’t need to add extra liquid. Also, put the fresh veggies in first, then the meat and then the seasonings and any sauce or soup. In the freezer section at the grocery store, there are packaged meals ready to put in the crock pot, fairly good, really easy, in the section of the store that contains the sauce mixes, there are packets of slow cooker helper (kind of) all you do is add the veg and meat and follow the directions. I do have one killer crock pot chili recipe but I just moved, so i need to find it. I’ll post it when i find it.

  3. cowgirlintex says: has good recipes. I have tons and use the slow cooker all the time. Sure is easy to come home and supper is already done. Another tip, get some of those crock pot liners. Then you also have nothing to clean up.

Not knowing what you like I will give you 3 base ideas
    1) turkey meat loaf -you mix it like any meatloaf except you add poultry seasoning and put it in turn it on .
    2) ham and bean cassoulette – diced ham , onion , celery , green bell pepper , can butter beans , can regular lima beans , 3 chicken bouillon cubes , can of corn – your choice of seasonings
3)Soup – this is great for almost any type of soup , but not pasta , sorry it doesn’t work well
    how about 2 bonuses
    1) terriyaki chicken – put in your chicken and whisk together lemon juice , brown sugar and soy sauce ; pour over top and turn on if you want a bite add some worcestershire to it
    2) sauerkraut turns out incredible in this just try adding some dry white wine and caraway seed to it along with your pork and throw in some baby carrots
