Crock Pot Turkey Chili for the New Year

Go on, spice up your life for New Year, go and make this delicious Crock pot Turkey Chili.
Makes 8 servings


* 1 3/4 lb. lean ground turkey
* 1 chopped yellow sweet onion
* 2 minced garlic cloves
* 1/2 cup beer or imitation beer with lime flavor
* 2 tbs chili powder
* 1/2 tsp sea salt
* 1 tsp ground black pepper
* 1 can green chilis
* 1 can stewed tomatoes
* 1 can dark red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
* 1 chopped carrot
* 1 cup peeled and cubed turnip
* 1 tsp ground black pepper
* 1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
* 1/2 tbs smoked paprika
* 1 tsp oregano
* 1 tsp ground cumin
* 3/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth

1. Spray some cooking oil into a large saucpan or skillet. (you can use olive oil if you want.)
2. Brown the turkey on both sides and break it into pieces as it cooks.
3. Add in the garlic and oinion and cook until the turkey is no longer pink.
4. Add half the chili powder and the sea salt with black pepper and cook for another 5 mins.
5. Pour in the beer, stir and simmer until liquid id reduced.
6. Put all the other ingredients into your slow cooker and mix in all the turkey and chicken broth.
7. Cook on high for 2 hours then check.
